BFNowhere
Hey ho
Posted: April 5, 2008 - 11:50 AM

I just checked my unapproved comments thing back on the bfnowhere blog (or here on the bfnowhere blog depending on where you're reading this) and I just said fuck it and deleted the 30600 comments that had been unapproved. The VAST VAST majority if not all of them were spam, but if you by some chance left a comment on some months old blog post I apologize.

I was just loading up the dishwasher and was struck by the desire to "blog". It's such a silly concept to me, which is one of the main reasons I haven't posted anything of substance since the end of June.

I've got no idea WHY I got the urge to blog, I think it was after some conversations at the "Beach" Party last night, I'm generally a pretty damn silly guy, I'll laugh about anything and often feel like if I don't laugh about it or make a joke about it, even if it's something horribly offensive, things will just get me down.

People that know me know that I never say things like that with malicious intent and I never have ill-will in my heart, but people will occasionally react with shock and horror which makes me feel bad that I can't necessarily ever really explain and convince them that it's really just "Laugh or Cry about it, I choose to laugh"

On a lighter note, what am I doing these days?

Freelancing is going well, I've plowed through pretty much every show ever recommended to me or that's been critically acclaimed and I'm pretty much out of old televised things to watch, so I guess it's a good thing that there's new things to watch.

I'm also thinking about projects to work on that seem interesting, and idly thinking about stuff that might be interesting to do in my spare time that's not Reading/Watching/Listening to assorted things.

I've also got to exercise, I'd say more but that would imply that I at least occasionally exercise and that's not true.

Bla bla bla

Clever Cupcakes
Posted: July 22, 2007 - 10:39 PM

Hey all,

Michelle has finished up the website for the cupcake baking company she's trying to start up.

She makes delicious cupcakes only using healthy ingredients and you can trust me that they actually taste good because you all know I hate pretty much anything healthy.

Anyway check it out at http://www.clevercupcakes.com

Suggestions, comments, critiques are always welcome.

Well well well

So I've been freelancing for a bit over a month now and things are going well, people seem pretty happy with my work and money is finally starting to come in which is always an awesome thing.

So far I've worked on a couple social networking sites, one seems to be moving towards a Facebook app and I'm excited to get to play with the FB application development stuff. The other one I don't want to get into too many details now but seems like it could be an interesting take on things and it's got a good pedigree behind it.

I've always had regular work from someone in Montreal which has been going well and is keeping the bills paid between interesting smaller projects.

All in all it's a million times better than working in an office.

Next week looks like it's going to be fun, Chris should be on his way to or has already picked up tickets to see Transformers on Monday, I've got free passes to Rescue Dawn on Wednesday (still have to find a second to come along, Michelle's going to be at the gym that night) and Thursday is Bela Fleck at Place des Arts!

This weekend we've got a BBQ and a party to go to on Canada Day so many beers will likely be consumed.

I've been trying to keep myself busy during down periods with playing with things like Ruby on Rails, looking into developing some stuff for myself that is either fun or profitable or maybe both. Not entirely sure what I want to spend my free time doing :)

Actually to clarify that earlier paragraph I just Chris just called and he's on his way right this second hopefully it's not sold out yet! *fingers crossed*

Oh and I've cut my hair back down to it's default 1/2" state, it's much cooler in the summer.

Also Also, I've been playing lots of Catan on the 360 and just bought Carcassone which seems like it'll be a lot of fun.

the Long Hair
Posted: May 18, 2007 - 12:40 PM

This may come as a shock to some people but I have longer hair now than I've pretty much ever had in my entire life.

Here's the passport photo I took yesterday.

Tumblr

I've been playing with Tumblr today, I'm seriously thinking about ditching the blog to use that instead.

Check it out at http://blog.bfnowhere.com

I'm just burnt out on longform blogs so I'm going to keep these in parallel and see which one I end up feeling like using more.

Hey guys,

In a fit of boredom I made a dynamic image generator based on

You can just use the following

It was made because someone wanted this

Up Early
Posted: April 12, 2007 - 7:41 AM

Woke up early this morning to let Lucy out. Instead of heading back to bed I watched the newest ep of the Shield and I'm watching the new South Park now.

Cartman just got a bunch of mexicans to do his bookreport.

What's new?

Not a lot, found out yesterday that my cousin got engaged over the weekend which is very cool. Aside from that I've bene using Facebook a hell of a lot, adding friends left right and center.

Work is getting better these days, trying to get past my inherit hatred of office work and make the best out of it. There are plenty of good things about it, but at the same time I'm looking for more freelance work.

I also picked up Super Paper Mario and an Xbox 360. Super Paper Mario is awesome but the story spots are way too long, too much reading in one spot. At least with the old Paper Mario games the story stuff was spread out a bit more.

The 360 was too good a deal to pass up, I wanted one eventually and at the price I paid for it I just had to get it. The only problem so far is last time I checked Gears of War was unreadable, I'll have to see about cleaning it.

So yeah I haven't blogged in a while, but as you can see there isn't exactly much going on.

Here we go
Posted: March 15, 2007 - 4:07 PM

Hi all, it's been a hell of a long time since I've updated this thing. Since I last did I've changed jobs, got a Wii, read a book, listened to lots of music, finished a Java class (which I might even pass), done some freelance work and generally sat on my lazy ass as much as possible.

The Wii is awesome, and I want everyone's friend codes that I don't already have (especially you Dyna, I hear you shared it with PA but not CoT). I'm loving Trauma Center especially. Wario Ware is pretty good but Chris and I plowed through it last night and while there's still lots to do I'm not sure how motivated I'd be to own it, we'll see.

The other thing that I've gone crazy with is Facebook. I've technically been a member pretty much since it went public to everyone but in the past few months it seems like people around my age in Montreal have started to find it. I've touched base with so many people that I'd lost track of that it's ridiculous. I also discovered you can put an RSS feed in and it'll import things using it. So we'll see if this entry ends up there like it should.

Work is pretty good, it's awesome being downtown again but there's downsides to every job. Things have been up and down a lot for me here but I'm going to be sticking it out and hopefully by about mid-april things will slow down to a more reasonable level.

I'm going to try and update this more often, I'm thinking once a week to start. I've made that claim before though so who knows.

Films 4 Food Fest
Posted: January 20, 2007 - 1:34 PM

Hi all, it's 1:39 and we're about to start Clerks 2.

I'm going ot update this when I get a chance with the adventures of last night and this morning and how things are at the Fest.

But now... Clerks 2

Man I love Clerks 2, although being able to watch it in the dark where you can cry in peace is nicer than trying to stifle it back, because the end of that movie always gets me.

It's been fun out here so far, the FRWY coffee house is a fantastic space. Too bad it's in Hamilton which is pretty much just a shithole.

Now to finally do my crossword.

Crossword, Bonner/Nagy comedy and Shaun of the Dead are done.

I'm sitting in a couch that is perpendicular to the screen and after driving for over 12 hours of the last 24 my neck is a little stiff coupled with turning my head to see the screen has made my neck super stiff.

On the bright side they have delicious pizza bagels here.

Also I won 4 DVDs with my mad trivia skills, but unfortunately I didn't win the one specific one I wanted (The Protector) but free shit is always good.

Got home safe and sound last night and using someone in the neighbourhood's wireless internet but I'll lose it a second so I'll finish later

Hey all, it's been a hell of a long time since I've updated any actual content. No real time today but I'll be in Hamilton tomorrow at the Films 4 Food Fest. They've apparently got Wi-Fi there so I'll pump out a good long update then.

Hope everyone's good, I'm about to embark on an 8 hour drive wee!
